Letter From Our Leaders

Dear Friends,

As we reflect on the first year of operation for the New Promise Cancer Foundation, it is with immense gratitude and pride that we share the impact we have made together in the Wiregrass community. What began as a vision to provide hope and support for those affected by cancer has already grown into a life-changing force for individuals and families facing this battle. Thanks to your commitment, compassion, and generosity, we have been able to offer essential services to our community, helping to foster a sense of unity in support of those who need it most.

In our inaugural year, we focused on establishing the foundation’s core mission: to provide financial assistance and resources to cancer patients in the Wiregrass region. We recognize that a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming—not only because of the physical challenges it presents, but also because of the financial burden, emotional toll, and the need for reliable, local resources. The New Promise Cancer Foundation was created to help ease those burdens by offering support right here at home.

The community’s response and support has been overwhelmingly positive, and it’s clear that the need for these services is great. As we look to the future, we are inspired by the progress we’ve made and the lives we’ve touched. But we also recognize that there is much more work to be done. In 2025 and beyond, we are committed to expanding our outreach and strengthening our programs. We will work to increase our support services, grow partnerships with healthcare providers and community organizations, and advocate for greater awareness about the needs of cancer patients in our region.

The journey ahead is both challenging and full of promise. Together, we will continue to provide hope, encouragement, and practical assistance to individuals and families that turn to New Promise every day. Thank you for being a part of our first year and for helping us make such a meaningful impact. We look forward to what we will accomplish together in the years to come.

With deepest gratitude,

Jill Hoops

Real Impact

“When my son was diagnosed with cancer, our world was turned upside down. Just a few months before his diagnosis, we lost his father, and we never imagined what would come next. My son was diagnosed at 19-years-old, and suddenly, we were faced with countless hospital visits, expensive treatments, and bills that kept piling up.

That’s when we found New Promise. The support we’ve received—help with gas to get to his appointments, assistance with bills, and even food for our family—has been a lifeline. It's hard enough to watch my son fight this battle, but with New Promise, we can rest easier without worrying so much about how we’ll make ends meet. Thank you for supporting them because now we can focus on what matters most—his health and our time together.”

“My husband and I have been on this journey with me fighting lung cancer since 2023. We have depleted all of our finances. We applied for government help but were denied because they said we made to much money. Our checking account has been in the negative because of all the expenses incurred. Our case worker where I get treatment told us of New Promise Cancer Foundation, and that they might be able to help.

We called and they were eager to help us. They took our information and helped us quickly. My husband and I began to cry for the compassion we felt. We finally could see light at the end of the tunnel. If it wasn't for their help, we don't know where we would be right now. Our love and prayers will always be with them everyday.”

We hosted several meetings this year thanks to our program participants, community partners, and facilitators.

Community Partners

In 2024, generous community partners led local initiatives that helped advance the mission at New Promise. â€‹We are grateful for the hard work and creativity that our community shared with us in support of cancer patients in our area.

Jennifer Leverette Memorial Golf Classic

Celebrating the inaugural Jennifer Leverette Memorial Golf Classic event, supporters, volunteers, and leaders in the oncology field gathered on August 23, 2024, to support the New Promise Cancer Foundation. The event generated valuable dollars in honor of Jennifer Stickler Leverette to support New Promise in providing financial assistance and support services to those battling cancer in the Wiregrass area.

Philanthropic-minded guests made memories with friends and loved ones, raising more than $99,000 through sponsorships, tributes, and donations. The event welcomed special guests from our community, as well as leaders in the oncology field who traveled from Puerto Rico, Pennsylvania, Nebraska, Colorado, New Jersey, and other states to participate.

Jennifer Stickler Leverette was a passionate member of our community before she lost her battle with cancer in 2022. She left a legacy that her family and friends continue by honoring her faith and her career as an advocate for cancer care. For more than 20 years, Jennifer worked in oncology sales, with a special interest in assisting community oncology practices.

Thank you to our presenting sponsor: The Leverette Family, our event sponsors, community partners, and volunteers for making this event possible!

Industry Partnerships

The New Promise Cancer Foundation is incredibly grateful for the support from our industry partners over the past year. Without their generosity and support, we could not provide the vital programs that have become essential to those who turn to New Promise for support.

Thank you to our industry partners for making a positive impact in the lives of so many in our community.
